Dr. William E. Austin Scholarship
When Dr. Austin retired, we elected to name a scholarship for him and his service to this congregation and this community. That scholarship (or scholarships!) will be awarded each spring to the student(s) from our church who have displayed the academic skills to perform well at the college level and who best exemplify the Christian spirit and character.
The 2008 William E. Austin Scholarship was awarded to Corrine Taylor during the 8:30 Service in August. Congratulations, Corrine |

The “Ministry Moment” was introduced as a way to highlight the service activities of our members and to open up the potential for greater congregational involvement in self-chosen missions. As we learn more about what others are doing to serve, we may feel called to help support their activities with our time, prayers or funding. Ministry Moments are also an opportunity to share ideas for potential new service activities – a way of saying, “I think I may be feeling a call to serve in this way. Is there anyone else who’d like to join with me or discuss the possibilities here?” Whether the Ministry Moment is about an established work or a future potential, it is a way that we can be responsive to the nudging of the Spirit as we are called to service in our community and our world. Please contact Rev. Lewis (481-3494) or Pastor43@verizon.net) if you have a Ministry Moment to share or know of someone else in our congregation who does. . Directories are Ready and Waiting!
Linda and Susan have been trying to update the church directory, and it continues to be a challenge. We are, in fact, in the process of requesting actual TRAINING in the module (a novel idea) in order to make changes, create more accurate reports, etc. MEANWHILE, we printed what is our best effort to date!
Please check your names, addresses, emails, etc., and if at all possible, email or write out corrections! They can be given or sent to Susan at susanvbcc@verizon.net.
Accept our apologies in advance for errors; we are aware that some names are listed twice.
If anyone prefers that email, cell or phone numbers not be listed, let us know!
